that which is gone, returns
there is no end but continuing
life has no meaning apart
but even less from beginning
we place on the altar
that which is required
the very essence of reason
and love and knowledge
all is manna and forbidden
the truth is flesh enough
and will not be hidden
left alone all would die
so do not surrender life
but banish all fear
the exact nature of being
is not having
but wanting
have only light
for darkness has no light alone
and all is dark from the tomb
